If I go to the Australian Apple Store the delivery time for a Black MacBook is 3-5 days.
If I go to configure and upgrade it to 1Gb RAM the delivery time falls to 2-4 days!!!
Explain that to me all you rumo(u)r experts:confused:
Don't know, but assuming you ordered that and the BlackBook was upgraded before dispatch, you would possibly get 2GB for the same price, or the option to go down to standard 1GB config and money back. That's assuming Apple sees sense and ups it to 1GB as well as C2D.

I wonder what breaks more often, the hard drives fitted in the classic or the fragile touch screens of the iPod touch?

I've had two HDD iPods - a 5th gen and a 6th gen - crap out on me within months. This wasn't unexpected since I was using them for long trips on motorcycles and Land Cruisers on crapped out African roads.
I used the original iPhone sans case for the most part for well over two years in fairly harsh environments. A lot of dents and scratches. Broke the glass last year when it fell off of a table onto a concrete floor.
The glass just has to be protected from mishaps and this is fairly easy to do. OTOH, depending on your usage patterns, there's nothing that you can do to prevent your HDD from failing.
Unfortunately, you are probably right. Though it would be nice to see one last revision of the Classic, I have a feeling that this is the end of the line. Also, a good point on the buy used bit. There have been times when I wanted Flash to work on my iPod, but I'm glad Apple is keeping it off there. They just need to keep pushing HTML5 and eventually Flash will die and the internet will miraculously become faster.

Apple saw the Blu Ray failure coming, so they didn't use Blu Ray. Can't they see that 3D has ALREADY failed?
3D movies and stuff were "popular" a while back, but not so much now. The 3D TV is a failure. I can't even see any uses for 3D on an iPad except for the occassional 3D movie, but I personally hate them because of the headaches, and I'm sure a lot of people do too.

I'm thinking 2GHz and 2.16GHz. That way it's an upgrade from the current versions, but competition with the Macbook Pro is minimized.

Is there even a display technology that shows 3D without glasses and shows it even when you rotate the screen from landscape to portrait ? Lenticular surely isn't doing that, and I don't see Apple pushing 'those glasses' in their products ("The all new iSight !").

Come on guys, all of you saying the Vista is for $99, remember... that is the "upgrade" not the full install. where as osx is a complete full install. plus vista is suppose to be coming in 6 different version, i read something about that at here (http://www.theinquirer.net).

More likely editing houses will be angry because of the new price point... $299 is much more affordable and makes rental booths seem unnecessary for many productions. Of course there will still be much more intense productions that will keep them in business for a while still.
FCP already did that at the $999 price point. The drop from $999 for the suite to $299 for just FCP isn't a big deal at all in the professional space. For years the selling point of rental bays is hardware that people can't afford and/or don't want to own and maintain (professional grade monitors, higher end towers, input/output cards, decks, video scopes, etc.,).

That thread Spook posted is hilarious! Man we're so many people 100% wrong with their opinions... the iPod owns the world now! I wasn't a fan of Apple back when the iPod was introduced, so I didn't have any expectations. I didn't even know it was coming. But now I sit here with both my 3G 30GB and 5G 60GB iPods on my desk. :D

Not sure if it's been mentionned, but will this thing be PDF compatible? Or if it's a special format, will OS X have an update to add "print/export" capability for it or will iTunes simply be able to import a lot of different formats and convert for the iPod? :confused:

To offer hardware at the same time as WWDC mixes the message to developers and (mostly) to the world at large -- unless, UNLESS it deals with something that developers need to know -- the iPhone 4 was announced during WWDC 2010 for one BIG REASON --> Retina Display.
WWDC 2003: PowerMac G5, iLife.
WWDC 2004: 23 and 30 inch cinema displays, iTunes 4.9
WWDC 2006: Mac Pro
WWDC 2008: iPhone 3G
