Yes I know the current one is selling like crazy, but that only reinforces the fact that Joe Average will buy anything Apple.
I never thought I will hear that about this Mac company ;) What a difference a few years make!!

Reset PRAM, apparently that broke CoreDuoTemp sensor because mine is reading 12C, iStatPro is reading 12 C as well, but smcFanControl is reading 72 C. Week 27 MacBook by the way. So my suggestion is, if your MacBook has no issues or you are fine with how it is running right now, DO NOT UPGRADE THE FIRMWARE.

Considering that a 160GB iPod Classic existed in it's really been more like 4 years since Apple has made meaningful progress with this line.
Perhaps if a Classic were to be produced with capacity superior to all its predecessors, it might motivate people to upgrade.

Does this update my iPad to an iPad 2?
The reason the iPad's file size is so large (593MB) is because it has to install a camera on the top of the iPad, and if you go into the Settings> General> Bezel, you can now change it from Black to White (or vise versa) whenever you want.
This is an awesome update, hurry, download it.
P.S.
No onions.

The current camera on the iPhone 4 is stellar IMO and many others... an equal 8MP camera would be even better....
Opinions are good things huh....
my iphone produces some ok photos but also produces a large volume of absolute shite ones.
The higher mp may not mean muhc, but hopefully they will be improving the optics/sensor while at it. The nokia n8 may be a fugly symbian^3 abomination, but the sensor combined with the carl zeiss optics produces some really nice photos, even in low light.
You can also use the hdmi out for flipping throuhg photos, and not just the fakin stupid slideshow like the hdmi adapter on the iphone4

My laptop has been very hot to the touch recently, and my battery only holds a 24% charge. I wonder if this has anything to do with it.
Oh well, my order for a new battery has been placed. Thank you, Sony!

Your wife said 'no'?
You know, this is a question that I've been wanting to ask for a long time, and this is not directed only at you, but to all responses similar to yours I've seen on such topics. It's an honest question I have, because it just blows my mind:
What the hell kind of relationship do you people have with your spouses?? I mean, seriously??! You need their explicit PERMISSION to buy something you want, with your money, and it gets to their point of people BEGGING their wives to let them buy something, only to be turned down?! How the hell do you get yourself into this kind of dynamic? The only plausible reason that a wife may be against it is if you guys are so short on cash, that $500 will break the account and drive you into poverty? And if this is the case, then you people should have a bit more responsibility than to beg your wives to let you buy something that you clearly can't afford. If you CAN afford it, and it is your $$, then why the hell do you even need to ask your wife in the 1st place, and what right does she have to refuse you? Do your wives make all the money? An iPad isn't a car or a house that needs to be a consensual and debated purchase. Your wife shouldn't have the ability (nor the desire) to stop you from buying one.
This is honestly something that Id like an answer to. Some of you seem to have a 'child/parent' relationship, instead of husband/wife. If she's the breadwinner of the house, and you mooch of her, fine I'd understand. But if you bring in the $$? Sounds like a disturbing and cold relationship. Why does she get to dominate you and dictate your decisions, void of any debate or discussion?
When you're married, it's a partnership, and it's no longer a case of "your money" and "her money", but a case of "OUR" money. Once responsibilities are out the way, then personal purchases can be looked at, but unless you're in a job where you have a LOT of disposable income far in excess of what's required to pay the mortgage and many bills, then yes it's only right you make sure you have the money to go out and buy a gadget which, most of the time, only you will use.
I'm fortunate that my wife enjoys using technology, but I still wouldn't go out on payday and just buy a new gadget without at least letting her know I was doing it, and if I spend money on something, it's only fair she does the same ... which means for whatever you spend, you need to double it and again it's only after looking at bills and responsibilities that you can do so.

Looks like the Sony Ericsson K608i, Ive been dying to get my hands on one for awhile now, but tech changes and that lust faded. I have a p900 and I am enthraled with the phone OS. Motorola can eat it here.:p
Looks like it might say "Sony Ericsson" on it.

If that becomes the future (it is starting to feel that way a bit), then I'll be switching back to Windows full time.
And I'd probably switch to Linux.

Is that why Primark never display it on the labels of their clothing?
There is a legal requirement when importing to show the country of manufacture, BUT if a company changes the character of the product it imports it qualifies as made in USA.
Depending on the product the manufacturer then lists something like Made in USA with some parts from (put in Country)
Peopel don't rea dthat stuff anyway.
They read:
Today only $ 1.99. Buy one get one FREE!
and then throw the packaging away.

We heard something really similar to that when every other company released video-playing mp3 players before Apple did, and Jobs said he didn't see anybody wanting to have portable video. Well, Apple bit its tongue and released it, calling it "innovation".
Actually, I believe he said portable video was a waste of time becuase there was no content to PLAY on these devices...and back then, there wasn't. Apple released their iPod with video AND the ability to actually use it.

This is what the iPod nano always should have been: a radically slimmer iPod mini.
Love the colors. Love the new (old) shape. Love the new (old) aluminum scratch-free design.
I want one. ;)
Indeed....the mini is back. The 8gig in black only is the killer though.

didn't see this mentioned- but I guess there are 1.1 million in US and 700,000 abroad so that of course totals the 1.8 mentioned on some reports.
So now we know exactly why apple didn't post their own link yet- site can't handle 1.8 million hits at once huh?:D

I think that a wireless music sharing feature, via a similar interface to iTunes, will definitely be in the iPod's future. And at which point, the iPod may also have the capability to make music purchases.
But the way Microsoft has its 3 days or 3 plays is just horrible. Microsoft is just getting on its knees and giving lip-service to the record companies rather than it being the other way around via Apple's way.
Back to the article... This just affirms to me that Jobs and Apple have a couple things between their legs that the competition does not.

Apple is a company that is looking to make money. That's it.
That's what companies do, you know. That's their function. Apple shareholders would riot if Apple made decisions on any basis other than maximizing the value of the company. And when you check your investment portfolio, what do you look for in the companies in which you are invested?
On the basis of making money, I'd have to say Apple's recent decision making has a pretty good track record -- the App Store included. Their decisions aren't always in my best interest, but that's not what they are trying to accomplish, and I'm not selfish enough to think that's what they should be doing.

Has anybody found Xcode 2.4 yet? It's not up on ADC as far as I can see.
I haven't heard anything about Xcode 2.4 anywhere apart from here. are you sure about it? i really don't think it has been released. been checking as much as i can everywhere, and i've seen nothing. might be getting it mixed up with Xcode 3.0 that's going to be in Leopard? maybe?

I don't understand this.
Right now, I move my finger about an inch on a touchpad to move the cursor from one corner of the screen to another.
With a big monitor, I would have to lift my entire arm, carefully place my finger on a 1/8 inch spot, move my entire arm 24 inches to the other corner of the screen, all the time putting fingerprints on my screen.
Nope. I don't get it. A touchscreen for a desktop computer seems like useless "gee-whiz" garbage.
Unless the touchscreen is like those ones on CNN, used for specialized presentations. Or built into a table. Or one comprising a wall where you can draw stuff. Or something (anything!) where touch is an advantage.
But for a desktop machine?

I absolutley like this idea. Imagine college professors being able to produce podcast notes (some type of e-book podcast) and students being able to download them.
I also see it being useful for short things like Cliff Notes, written (typed) podcasts, concert programs, newspaper or magazine subscriptions but not front line books. Although, it could work in concert with Project Gutenberg or UPenn's online book programs. The extra screen real estate would be important.

Surely, this number 12B$ can't be correct. Intel spends about 2B$ on a full sized waifer fab in the USA, I can't imagine that something HTC would do would be six times that amount, and IN BRAZIL no less
