Dunno why peeps call grenade launchers and powerful combos "noob". It's a good strategy, then use it.

My guess is that iTunes will support wireless syncing of content, contacts, calendar etc over home wifi and public wifi for iPhone and iPod touch (also over edge for iPhone).
Another possibility is that you will be able to buy movies & other high def content for download from your iPod tough/iPhone, your home iTunes will then download it and transfer to your Apple TV automagically.
Alex.

This might be silly, but there is nothing particularly 'Apple' about that sign. Other than the beautiful white typeface against black canvas, of course. As people have pointed out, it isn't Myriad set. Why would Apple change their font for one banner? Do they do this regularly?
Isn't it possible that this sign belongs to another company showcasing software etc at Macworld? Doesn't Apple normally have some sort of branding on their banners?
Excuse the ignorance if I have no idea.

found a hidden page to link to the locations with ipads for radio shack...
http://www.radioshack.com/uc/index.jsp?page=researchLibraryArticle&articleUrl=../graphics/uc/rsk/USContent/HTML/pages/ipad.html&noBc=true#
Very good find. I'm returning my original iPad today. Deciding if I want a cheaper iPad or grab the iPad 2.

I used to build a lot of fences for livestock farms. No matter how well we thought we built the fence, the only way to make sure the pigs couldn't get out was to put the pigs in...
And that's my feelings about computer security. At least these guys are going public with their findings. Now it's time for the computer savy public to put them through their paces.

Siri is one of my favorite apps. I've yet to have it not understand what I was asking for. For fun, we've asked it all sorts of odd things. "Find me a hooker" did just that after scolding me for being naughty. LOL. Seriously though, if you need a cab, you ask the app to get you a cab and it does.
If Apple integrated this throughout IOS it would be a major improvement. If you don't have Siri, I highly recommend it. Ask it anything, and there it is. If they worked in talk to text and a few other things, I'd be over joyed.

Can anybody guess whether the new C2D Macbooks will be hotter/cooler?
You would think cooler. They've stepped up their inspections because of the issues with the first generation MacBooks.

The trade off is performance.
Certainly a lot of applications for the iphone could be moved to a web front end, however the applications would be far less sophisticated and would run much slower.
The choice of letting everyone run wild and do whatever the hell they want with the phones is a bad choice. Just look at all the wankers down in Australia who were too lazy to change ssh passwords on their phones and got pwnd by a worm.
If you want to do whatever the heck you want then run a jailbroken phone and take all of the risks.
I do think that Apple needs to work harder on App approval, and I believe the best thing for them to do is have a gold certification level for developers who are trusted. Those developers would be allowed to make as many changes to their applications as they wanted without any interference or approval from apple.

The Radio Shack in the financial district in San Francisco did not have any iPads. The salesperson indicated that their "district" received about four units. That's it.

The ClickWheel "interface" of the classic is a royal pain in the back when you have to navigate through thousands of titles.
It's easy to navigate with the click wheel if your songs are properly tagged. I'd rather use it than the iOS iPod app. :)

This would be nice as long as my iPhone understands what I am saying. When I first got my iPhone 3GS (with iOS 3) I thought the voice recognition was excellent. However, since the update to iOS 4 the phone and I seem to be able to communicate. If I set it to use English (American) and fake an accent then it seems to work OK but not if it is set to English (British). I don't know what Apple did but having this functionality cease to working after an update, and never be fixed (judging by the Apple Support Discussion site, I'm not the only person to have encountered this), gives me cause for concern for future voice functionality.

Not really. I mean, I do wash the casing every once in a while, but I'm not obsessive over it. It's a computer, and it'll look however it does after the use I put it through.
well, ive just seen some pretty dirty ones then!

Almost all products that are manufactured by Foxconn are produced by hand. When labor is essentially free it's going to be cheaper than using a machine.
Do you know what the labor cost on an iPhone is? About 85 cents.
And do you know how long it takes to assemble one?

No one cared until the X-Factor show made the theme for last week's songs "The Beatles". Suddenly millions of UK TV viewers cared. The long "Beatles now on iTunes" adverts aired in the breaks just increased the profile.
Plus (i could be wrong) Simon "Money Whore" Cowell has his fingers in Sony who co-own the rights to The Beatles catalogue!?
Don't quote me on that.

If Boot Camp is supposed to be one of the biggest new features, where is identification of it on the poster?
I see on the Far Left Top corner 'Universal' but not boot camp. I finf this strange.
Does that Universal Logo mean more then just PowerPC+MacIntel? Maybe Mac+PC? 'virtualization'?
Since Parallels came out, Apple has been downplaying Boot Camp. (In the "I'm a Mac and a PC" ad, they even now say "Purchase of Parallels required" rather than "Windows", where it implied to use Boot Camp. So before it implied using Boot Camp, now it implicitely mentions Parallels.)
We won't see Apple embracing run-in-place Windows apps on OS X. It just involves TOO MUCH TESTING! (Heck, OS/2 actually ran a copy of Windows, and it was flaky at running Windows apps.)

We need to get developers to use open standards and flash is not!...
...
What we all need to do is educate / demand that web developers / sited eliminate flash and use open standards.
Yeah!!! You forgot the part about world peace and end of hunger....
Personally I do not use sites that require flash for operability - one of my favorite hotel chains "upgraded" their site to a flash based reservation system - it looks great but is slow and un-reliable, - so I stopped staying there and emailed them telling them they lost a customer due to their bad flash based reservation system!
Yeah!!! You against the world! I suppose you also write to fashion magazines, complaining that all their models have perfect, skinny bodies....
But all kidding aside, without Flash, you must be having a pretty poor and limited web experience. Or, you just hang out on the Apple site.... :D

The only flaw with that is the rest of the market is shrinking.
So if the market is down as a whole, and one manufacture is up, that one manufacturer is definitely doing something right.
Well, not really. Macs are generally more expensive than PCs. The people who likely buy Macs aren't doing as poorly as others, so they buy Macs. Those with little discretionary income who would normally buy PCs don't have money to buy a computer right now, so they're not buying a PC.
And again, the market is shrinking because PC sales were at great highs before. It's almost impossible to think their numbers can go up by a wide margin.

This would be nice. I'd like to be able to tell my phone to read an email or text to me when I receive one while driving. However, I get into arguments all the time with the Siri app. We weren't on speaking terms for about a month after the last fiasco, (she kept telling me she couldn't help me because she didn't know my home address even though I wasn't at home and I couldn't see how knowing that would help me find a Taco Bell), but we recently made amends and the relationship, although tenuous, is improving.

Hopefully its tomorrow or the 16th for the MBP, but im done getting my hopes up. All this waiting is especially frusterating for me because this is my first mac and i am sure the c2d model will suit my needs for years. I am just a tech junkie waiting for the next best thing. :(

Except China is like a plague of locusts consuming raw materials. All of the coal, petroleum, steel, concrete, etc. they are importing is coming from somewhere else, and procuring these things has negative environmental impact for where theyre sourced.
Because before China, no other country in the world with factories EVER sourced raw materials from other countries.
If countries in Africa, the Middle East, and elsewhere weren't mining, growing, and extracting materials for factories in China, they'd be sourcing materials for factories in India, America, Europe, South Asia, Japan, Korea, or elsewhere. Unfortunately these countries tend to have weak or corrupt governments that don't care about environmental degradation or can't do anything meaningful about it.
Maybe countries with factories that source raw materials from other countries have a responsibility to help those other countries develop mechanisms to protect their environment. But I've yet to see this happen on a meaningful scale anywhere.
